Herencia Altes Garnacha Negra 2015

"There is a new entry level red from the village of Altea produced exclusively with Garnacha grapes, simply called 2015 Garnatxa Negra (the Catalan spelling of the grape) from grapes purchased from growers. It's a fresh, fruit-driven and unoaked light red fermented in stainless steel and kept in cement for a couple of months before bottling. There is a faint phenolic character here, over a mixture of red and black fruit, quite ripe with some flowers. I also tasted from a bottle that had been open for 24 hours and it had developed a tarry note. The palate shows austere tannins, medium bodied with a good length. Impressive for the price. 100,000 bottles in different lots.
I already see an improvement on the wines of Herencia Altès, which I already found impressive last time. A name to keep in mind for Terra Alta."
