"The majority of the fruit for Luna's 2006 Sangiovese came from the stony subsoils of Game Farm Vinyeards in Oakville. The shallow, rocky soils are said to mimic the challenging growing conditions of hillside vineyards, creating concentrated fruit. Small amounts of merlot and petite sirah were added to the blend, giving the wine a rich, berry characteristic and striking gemlike tone. Its bouquet is evocative of milk chocolate, red berries and roses. In the mouth, blueberry fruit is highlighted by orange zest and chocolate notes stitched together by firm tannins and a hint of minerality."
