"Fresh and snappy, with ripe, vivid wild berry and raspberry flavors woven in with mineral, floral and berry pie scents, gaining and holding, with a long, persistent finish. Drink now through 2022. Only 395 cases were made.
" In many ways, 2010 played perfectly into the style of Pinot Noir produced at the Keefer Ranch Vineyard. Keefer has always been something of an anomaly, a wine grown in a cool region, but it presents itself as coming from something of a warmer area. The 2010 growing season had characteristics of both a warmer season (two heat spikes drove sugars up) and a cooler season (aside from the heat spikes, 2010 was one of our coolest growing seasons&.and the wines generally possess higher than usual acid levels).
We picked the Keefer Ranch fruit in a fairly narrow window from September 28 to October 4, 2010. This rather compact harvest season is particularly remarkable given the vineyard's diversity, with multiple clones and several distinct growing areas. Yields in 2010 were down from normal, but not horrifically small, helping the vines ripen, but not over-ripen, the fruit. After separately fermenting and barrel aging the six individual clones of Pinot Noir that we get from Keefer we tasted each barrel blind, working for quite some time to put together the puzzle pieces and blend the finest possible Keefer Ranch wine. Ultimately, we came up with a blend that is 43% Clone 23, 31% Clone 114, 19% 2A Clone, and 7% Clone 777. We pre-blended this wine, taking it back to its original barrels, and then let it age there until bottling without fining or filtration in August.
The 2010 Siduri Keefer Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir is classic Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. With dark, rich berry and plum flavors, hints of cola, vanilla, and a full-body, this wine is difficult to put down. The finish ends crisp and lively, leading one to want another glass after the first&.a good, but dangerous, thing!" ~ Winery notes
