Ramey 'Sonoma Coast' Chardonnay 2013 image
Posted Jun 12, 2017

"Very bright golden color, the nose is full of ripe Granny Smith apples and clementines. Not typically what you would expect from a California chard, this has good acidity that makes your mouth water after every sip. The flavors have great depth and are very complex, all the while having a delicate mouthfeel. Grilled chicken and asparagus is what I will be drinking this one with!"

Goldschmidt Vyd 'Katherine' Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 image

"Wonderfully purple in color, this Cabernet comes from Alexander Valley in Sonoma. On the nose there is a ton of black and red fruit that all comes together with a subtle background of oak that brings some spice to the table. A little tight on the palate initially, give this a little time to breathe and the flavors get more complex by the sip. Rich texture with good acidity and a very lengthy finish. Great choice for your next cook out!"

"Beautiful clarity in the glass, the aromas remind me of a perfect spring day. Very ripe yellow/green apples, mango with a nice floral background of fresh apple blossom and iris. On the palate this wine offers perfectly ripe fruit notes with a light body and great acidity. After opening up, the wine takes on a honeyed character and just gets better after each sip. Pair this with your favorite seafood dish or a light spring salad!"

"From bottle to glass there are some funky aromas that may give pause but soon open up very well. An intense nose of dried cherry and fig really show the wines age, with a touch of black pepper and cinnamon. Super elegant, this wine is medium to full bodied with silky tannins and surprisingly good acidity. With dried ripe fruit on the palate matched with a pleasant balance of earthiness, this will make a memorable pairing and impress your whole family on Thanksgiving!"

Mirafiore Barolo 2011 image

"Let me start by saying this wine needs AT LEAST a few hours to open up. Once ready, your sense of smell is completely taken over by chocolate covered cherry, rose petal, clay, and orange peel. With one sip you will be instantly warmed by this full bodied wine with flavors of tart red fruit and earthy truffle components. The tannins get bigger as the wine lingers on your palate with high acidity and high complexity. Great wine to gift or treat yourself with!"

Cune 'Gran Reserva' Rioja 2010 image

"Wow. If you're looking for a textbook Rioja then look no further. The nose is complex with dried cherry and blackberry with subtle notes of cocoa and sweet vanilla. A pleasant earthiness on the palate is complimented by more red and black fruit. The finish is long and generous. This has very good structure so it will get even better with time! Even at this price point, you get way more than what you pay for."

"From a great producer out of the up and coming Jumilla region of Spain, the nose on this wine is extremely complex with dark fruit, black pepper and green herbs. Black berries and raspberries take over the palate with an evident earthiness and good acidity. With a solid structure you can drink this now or put it away for a few years. Lamb chops or any thick cut of meat will pair perfectly with this one."

Cloudline Pinot Noir 2014 image

"Ruby red in color, this Willamette Valley Pinot Noir presents fresh red and black berries on the nose. The palate shows the same with black cherry, raspberry and a tart plummy flavor. This is balanced out with baking spices and a bit of earthiness. A great stepping stone between fruity California pinots and those super earthy expressions from Burgundy. Ripe fruit, slight earthiness, good structure. Great wine."

Casaloste Chianti Classico 2011 image

"Based primarily on the Sangiovese grape, this offers up complex aromas of dried cherries, black plums and dried leaves. Tart berry flavors dominate along with a nice earthiness and a soft mouthfeel. Combined with mouth-watering acidity, this medium bodied red pairs great with grilled red meats and poultry. Pop this open, throw some meat on the grill and enjoy as this gets better by the sip!"

"Pouilly-Fuissé is a region in Burgundy known for making wonderful Chardonnay. This wine gives off fresh aromas of lemon and green apple accompanied by subtle notes of oak. Really clean fruit on the palate with a hint of vanilla give a rich mouthfeel. Very well balanced with good acidity. Great wine. Pair with fresh fish or poultry."

Fattoria Selvapiana Chianti Rufina 2013 image
Posted Apr 12, 2016

"This bottle has a lot going on from the start. Hailing from a small subregion in Chianti known as Chianti Rufina this has a wonderful nose of sun dried tomato, cherry and a hint of tobacco. Really nice acidity and a great balance of red/black fruit and herbal notes on the palate. At $13.95 this is a steal! Enjoying with simple penne and meat sauce so the wine can shine."

Morgan 'Twelve Clones' Pinot Noir 2013 image

"Cherry candy and red berries take over your entire sense of smell initially, soon met by a hint of brown sugar and baking spices. Elegant flavors of dusted cherry are followed by black plums. Firm, grippy tannins show this Pinot doesn't back down and will even stand up to a leaner cut of beef."

Maculan 'Palazzotto' Cabernet Sauvignon 2011 image
Posted Feb 22, 2016

"This Italian Cabernet engulfs you with aromas of black cherry and blackberry with a nice green herbal element in the background. The tannins are firm but they are rich and velvety; elegant yet intense. The wine finds a great middle ground between fruitiness and earthiness. Easily pairs with a block of Parmesan or a nice juicy steak."

"Exuberant raspberries and blueberries on the nose that follow through on the palate with a pleasant earthiness. Great representation of the fantastic wine Beaujolais can offer."

"Aromas of earthy black fruits and leather ooze out of the glass. Not as soft as typical Merlot blends, this wine is beautifully dense with a wonderful grippy feel to it. It's silky smooth texture on the palate and nice, long finish make this is a steal that any red wine lover would enjoy."

"Light gold in color, this wine opens up with sensual aromas of white peach and nectarine. Beautifully rich with a natural sweetness that coats the palate. The acidity is limited yet pleasant. With a nice mineral feel on the finish, your mouth will water after each sip. Goes great with pulled pork and a light salad."

Chateau Gigault 'Cuvee Viva' Red 2010 image

"Lively, ripe dark fruits on the nose. The palate follows suit with dark cherries and ripe plums along with subtle oak character and a hint of spice. Medium to full-bodied, this wine boasts velvety tannins, great depth and a long pleasant finish. Allow this wine to breathe to better enjoy the structure and complexity."

Stella Bella 'Skuttlebutt' Rose 2014 image
Posted Jun 17, 2015

"This beautiful rosè is a blend of mostly Shiraz, followed by Merlot and Sangiovese. The color is reminiscent of lively ruby red grapefruit with stunning aromas of raspberry and strawberry. The palate gives up a trace of spice initially, but is soon taken over by rich, juicy notes of cherry and a bit of the tanginess of cranberry. Medium bodied and fleshy, this rosè has a great balance of acidity and is incredibly crisp with a dry finish. A great wine for any occasion; if you're headed to a barbecue or a picnic, or if you are simply trying to cool off in the heat of the summer, the 2014 Skuttlebutt Rosè is impossible to pass up"
