"Loving the Carignan grape right out of the bottle. "Plump" is an apt description. Big, luscious fruit and round body give a very friendly mouth feel. Flavors of raspberry, dried cranberry and licorice come through strong with a bit of meat undercurrent."

"This Malbec didn't exactly send me but it does have a big flavor of inky plum, good structure, solid tannins, great legs. Definitely decant or give it time to breath. Hints of licorice as it opens. I guess I've been spoiled by less expensive Argentinian Malbecs."

"More intensely purple and inky than I was expecting. A bit chew and faintly tannic at first . Let it breath. This is a fairly heavy wine with big legs that mellows as it opens with flavors of plum, oak and leather. We rather liked it the more it breathed. It would go well with a thick steak, blue cheese."

"A lovely, well constructed wine. So light and subtle. Don't blink while drinking, you might miss it. I love the mineral quality and faint blush of cherry and oak. Great for Thanksgiving turkey, pork medallions, salmon. Frankly, I don't know a lot about Pinot Noir viticulture except that this grape prefers cool. But if you're not a pinot noir fan yet, try this wine."

"This was my choice for Thanksgiving white and I was so disappointed to arrive at Empire to pick it up and they didn't have it. I give it four stars because I love the wine but it's a bit pricier than what I would normally spend. Perfect for special occasions, however. It's a really solid white with distinctive mineral feel and honey smoothness. It has the added virtue of being made in New York by an excellent vintner.I came back to this wine more recently and was impressed enough to increase my rating to 5 stars. If you like a fruity wine, this will bowl you over with a profusion of peach, apple, tangerine and a sturdy mineral background. After a lot of Chardonnay and white blends from all over these many months in between tastings, I have to give Hermann Wiemer's Riedling a hearty endorsement."

EXCELLENT SIPPING RED"The only reason I didn't give this wine five stars is because my preference is a red with more aggressive qualities and I am not fluent in Riojas. Otherwise this is a perfect wine for pleasant drinking with or without food, with a supple, mildly intense mouthful of fruit hinting of cherry, vanilla and oak. It paired perfectly well with broiled sirloin tips and mushrooms. Our dinner guests were quite taken with it. Think of a ripe Grenache."

"I'm not a huge fan of Pinot Grigio but this one stands out. Too many Pinot Grigio are just airy fluff, but this one has soul. Lots of mouthfeel, bordering on Chardonnay. And you can't beat the price."

"Very impressive. Subtle complexity with solid berry and spice flavors. This wine has sold me on Syrah, even though there's a minority contribution of Grenache in the blend that brings the assertiveness down a notch. A lovely, lovely wine with the added bonus of being organically grown. I would buy it again in a heartbeat."

"Very impressed by the subtle complexity and high degree of drinkability. Luscious berry flavors with a hint of spice,, but also very mellow with no trace of tannins. Great legs. This wine has me sold on Syrah, although the minority contribution of Grenache in the blend does tone it down a notch. I would buy this wine again in a heartbeat."
