Chateau Gloria St. Julien 2012 As remembered from 40 years ago
My mother-in-law loved this wine so much, she started calling herself Gloria. We have a label from a 1982 vintage framed on our dining room wall. Well frame the 2012 label also as these "granddaughter" grapes are just as wonderful as we remembered.

Bread & Butter Chardonnay 2015 Not as perfect as 2012 vintage but still wonderful
Man cannot live on bread alone, but woman can thrive on Bread and Buter

Casa Santos Lima Confidencial Reserva 2014 Wine is great, corks are horrible
It's not that the corks are dry ... they're in the bottle like cement. Several were impossible to pull out without breaking and one was so bad, it broke my angel wing cork screw. Had to buy a new one, and even that one has difficulty extracting the cork without it cracking in two vertically.

Espelt Viticultors Garnacha Old Vines 2016 The best case I've bought at Empire so far
This wine is extremely drinkable. Goes well with all entrees, is not overly heavy and my only complaint is that the bottles are too long for my wine chest. Recommend unconditionally to all

Carnivor Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 First sip was peppery but then that quickly faded
It is so dark that when you drink it, you end up having a glass shaped purple shadow that makes you look like the Joker in Batman. Too conspicuous. Makes one long for straws. Will not order again

Gour de Chaule 'Cuvee Tradition' Gigondas 2012 Nearest to my heart
Gigondas was the first bottle of wine I ever drank entirely at one meal, in Paris with a friend from school. It is our go-to holiday wine and surprisingly, or not so much, our son in Texas had Gigondas with his blood orange duck on Thanksgiving. Have bottles on the ready for Christmas.

Domaine Lafage Bastide 'Miraflors' Rouge 2013 Telling all my friends to buy
Hate to move from the summer roses and whites but this is making the transition easier. Except to buy another case before the month is over.
