A NICE LITTLE WINE"This is a very nice wine. Smooth, fruity in a pleasant way, just very drinkable. Not for a night when you want something complex or tanniny. Refrigerated it, second day even nicer. Another example that shows that you don't have to spend a lot of money to enjoy the bounty of the grape."

NY TIMES REVIEW IS SPOT ON"The review is spot on, light but plenty of taste. A gentle tannin twinge. Nice change of pace. The bottle is very cool, with no label on the front, a tag attached with a string, and a red wax seal. Could be a nice one to bring when visiting a friend for dinner. They will be impressed."

MMMM. VERY NICE."I'm in the middle of my first glass, but this is delicious. I will update this review in a few days after I see how it develops. But a very good aroma and a good dose of tannins. If someone had served this to me and said it was a 25 dollar bottle of wine, I would have said, "good value." So much good value in off the run Italian wines!!"

ADDING MY VOTE: YES!"Thanks Michael at Empire for recommending this. My wife and I enjoyed this fresh wine. Loved the liter size and screw top. Who doesn't like popping open an 8 dollar bottle of wine that you can enjoy. It shows what is obvious, there are thousands of wine at all different price points that bring can bring the enjoyment of wine into your home. And by the way, I love that Empire highlights wine at all different price points for its customers. BRAVO EMPIRE WINE!!"

A GREAT COOKING WINE"So, under 10 dollars for 1.5 liters. Best of all, this is a very nice, drinkable wine. I buy it, however, mainly to use in cooking. You can make a wonderful coq au vin by dredging the chicken pieces in flour, brown the chicken in a little olive oil, add your Gallo Hearty Burgundy to cover, and cook for about an hour. You will not be disappointed. I have been using this wine for cooking for 40 years and it has never disappointed.Adding this to my review, as I just cooked this with a 2 year old bottle of Gallo HB: I forgot a step when I first reviewed. After browning the chicken, I remove it to a bowl, add 2 ounces of Cognac to the pan and light it after if boils up a bit. Whoosh!! Watch your hair doesn't catch on fire!.Add the wine and scrape the bottom of the pan with a flat wooden spatula until all the flour residue that stuck on the bottom comes off. Then add a bay leaf and some basil and parsley. Add back the chicken, cover and simmer on low for 50 minutes or so. While it's cooking, you saute some small whole onions over a very low flame in olive oil for at least the 50 minutes, turning occasionally. These will get incredibly delicious. Add them when ready to serve the chicken."

NICE BORDEAUX"I am enjoying this Bordeaux. Has a nice tannin bite to it. Very good value for the price. (I first reviewed in October. Tried my second bottle this week and enjoying even more. According to the importer M.Touton, this is 75 merlot, 20 Cab Franc, 5 Cab Sauvignon. Good dose of tannin without being overwhelmed.)"

GOOD VALUE HERE"Great value in this wine. I opened the bottle and enjoyed a glass . I then put one of my rubber Concerto wine savers in and forgot about it for a week. Coming back to it today it is even better. Not an outstanding wine, but for the price good value."
