"Already an established force in the world of blending, Barrell Craft Spirits has demonstrated its finishing prowess with a series of creative releases that marry different cask types together. Vantage is the most recent, and to us, the most successful. The nose has a bake shop sweetness, with aromas of sugar cookie, nutty chocolate brownies, and Funfetti cake, plus earthy dried tobacco leaves and strawberry candies underneath. The creamy palate delivers rich chocolate, Red Hots, and with water added, dried leaves and snickerdoodles. Big cinnamon spice on the finish ties this one up beautifully. Ted Simmons"

Wine Enthusiast 94
"Barrell has long focused on blending and creative cask finishes; this is no different, with a mix of straight bourbons distilled in Indiana, Tennessee and Kentucky, finished in Japanese Mizunara, French oak, and toasted American oak, and bottled at cask strength. Oak and maple aromas mingle with a hint of apricot. The big, bold palate suggests honey drizzled over stone fruit, while lemon-peel brightens the clove-accented finish. — Kara Newman "

Tasting Notes
"Selected Mizunara, French, and toasted American oak casks create multifaceted dimensions to this unique blend. The unique aspects of each wood and treatment are layered atop one another, precluding the singular taste of oak. The nose is creamy, spicy, and resinous, and the palate is richly textured and oily, soaked with barrel influence."

Appearance:
Burnt sienna.

Nose:
Creme brle, coconut oil, and chocolate pudding invoke the creamy richness of toasted American oak. Tarragon, nutmeg, and warm cola are among the dry, extractive spices highlighting the French oak. Mizunaras incense and grilled pineapple notes, meanwhile, take the profile in a totally different direction.

Palate:
Sweet and oily with a pronounced espresso note. Its pleasantly rich on the tongue, which obscures much of the tannin surprising given how much wood is present. The French oaks robust spice notes inflect a maple syrup sweetness.

Finish: Green grapes and red plums burst above the barrel notes for the first time. Its spicy, too, with zaatar, crystallized ginger and Szechuan peppercorns.

The Distillery
Former marketing & technology entrepreneur and longtime home brewer Joe Beatrice founded Barrell Craft Spirits in 2013 in Louisville, Kentucky, to explore the unique effects of different distillation methods, barrels, and aging environments on cask strength spirits. Inspired by Scotlands long-established independent bottlers and their ability to elevate whisky through barrel-aging, Barrell sources and blends exceptional casks acquired from established spirits producers with which Joe and his team have cultivated close relationships. These connections within the tightly knit spirits community allow Barrell to obtain the best spirits available without compromise. Barrels are sourced from around the world and shipped to Barrells facilities in Kentucky for additional aging, blending, and bottling.

Bottlings of Barrell spirits are limited in nature with new releases hitting the market frequently. With literally dozens of awards under their belt, Barrell Craft Spirits whiskeys and rums have indeed spoken and loudly proclaimed themselves beyond worthy of every bit of hype and excitement surrounding each release.
About Barrell Craft Spirits
The idea behind Barrell Craft Spirits is to "explore the unique effects of different distillation methods, barrels and aging environments, and bottle them at cask strength." This is accomplished through outstanding relationships within the tightly knit spirits community and sourcing the best distillates available without compromise. By definition, the bottlings of Barrell Spirits are limited in nature with new releases hitting the market frequently. Barrels are sourced from around the country (and soon the world), shipped to Barrell's facilities in Georgetown and Frankfurt, Kentucky for additional aging and bottling. Barrell Craft Spirits is dedicated to moving towards complete transparency. However, some of their partners insist upon production non-disclosures.
