"This history-minded bottling was made in collaboration with Brooklyn barmen Damon Boelte and Maxwell Britten. It’s made from an 18th-century recipe, pot distilled using “exotic spices inspired by the British Spice Trade,” and finally, aged for 12 months in Bourbon and oloroso Sherry casks. All that adds up to a light gold hue, light sweetness (typical of the Old Tom style) and a pleasing, robust vanilla-mint profile with flecks of rosemary and lemon peel, finishing long and spicy. Sip or mix. — (8/1/2015)"
" This American Dry Gin made in Greenpoint, Brooklyn has a delicate fresh, fruity nose that hints of juniper, yellow citrus and elderflower. On the palate the juniper leads and is followed quickly by citrus, ginger and sweet cinnamon & chamomile. Try it in a Martini with a twist. Made with a wheat base. Major botanicals are chamomile, blue ginger, Ceylon cinnamon, elderflower and juniper. "~ Distillery notes
GreenhookView all from Greenhook
Greenhook is an incredibly exciting and ambitious project coming from Brooklyn native, Steven DeAngelo. Greenhook utilizes cutting edge distillation technique and impeccable base materials to make a spectacular gin. It works wonderfully as a blending partner in a balanced cocktail but also has the complexity to stand on its own. We have truly found ourselves a gem under the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
Greenhook starts each handmade batch with neutral spirit made from organic NY grain. Using a custom-made vacuum still, Greenhook is able to distill at a lower atmospheric pressure/ temperature, enabling capture of delicate botanicals' aromas without damaging their nuance. Notes of elderflower and chamomile accentuate the backbone formed by the finest Tuscan juniper.
