Tasting Notes
"San Luis Del Rio is in the district of Tlacolula, located in the east of the Valles Centrales region. A small village making big mezcal, it is tucked away in the mountains next to the Rio Hormiga Colorada. Espadn is grown on slopes so steep and high that harvested pias have to be rolled down the mountainside before being taken back to the plaenque through the river bed below. The intense heat of the sun on the high elevation mountaintops (over 7,000 feet up) results in early-ripening agave with very concentrated sugars. Roasting and fermenting the agave at low elevation, however, brings bold and funky flavors of mesquite, bright citrus fruit, spicy black pepper, and a round, creamy palate, with most perceived smokiness of the Nuestra lineup."

The Spirit
Mezcal Nuestra Soledad is a celebration of the unique terroir and distillation traditions of six different, prominent distilling communities around the Valles Centrales region of Oaxaca, Mexico. Each palenque (distillery) crafts a distinctive mezcal from 100% Espadn agave, allowing the Nuestra Soledad lineup to be experienced as a virtual geographic tour of the varying terroir of six iconic mezcal-producing villages.

The Estate
Mezcal Nuestra Soledad is a celebration of the unique terroir and distillation traditions of six different, prominent distilling communities within the Valles Centrales region of Oaxaca, Mexico. Hand-selected by the iconic Corts family of El Jolgorio fame, each palenque (distillery) crafts a distinctive mezcal from 100% Espadn agave using centuries-old indigenous Zapotec methods. The agave is sustainably cultivated, wood-fire roasted in an earthen pit, wild fermented in open-air vats and distilled in copper pot stills. Mezcal Nuestra Soledad showcases the villages of Santiago Matatln (the heart of mezcal production in Oaxaca), La Compaa Ejutla, San Luis del Rio, San Baltazar Guelavila, Santa Mara Zoquitln, and Lachigu Miahuatln.
