In 1996 after years of searching, Betty O'Shaughnessy Woolls and Paul Woolls began what today is known as the O'Shaughnessy Estate Winery. This event was solidified by the acquisition of land in Howell Mountain, Mt. Veeder and Oakville. Today these seasoned vineyards yield quality fruit that reflects the effort of the O'Shaughnessy team; a process beginning in the mid-nineties resulting with their first bottling in 2002. Winemaker Sean Capiaux crafts wines in a nuevo style, classic wines with modern implements, specializing in Cabernet Sauvignon with supportive roles played by other Bordeaux varieties; Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Malbec, Carmenere, St. Macaire, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. From inception, the process of meticulous clonal selection and site location has resulted in rich, complex wines that will continue to evolve for many years to come.
