Renwood Winery is a grateful steward of the land, and this is reflected in our commitment to environmentally friendly and sustainable farming and production techniques. We are honored by the continued support of our wine club members and the many guests who visit our tasting room, spreading the word about our handcrafted wines. Our new wine club programs, The King of Zins Club and the Royal Wren Club, cater to all palates, and member satisfaction is at the core of our efforts to maintain Renwood's presence in all 50 states and many foreign markets as well. Some of the most important decisions we make each year are in the vineyard. The quality of fruit that we grow and buy from other Amador vineyards defines the wines that we ultimately produce. Our estate vineyard is located on the hills behind the winery and is predominantly planted with the Grandpère® clone of Zinfandel in both head trained and trellised vines. The slope of the vineyard has shallow soils with good drainage which is optimal for Zinfandel. We also grow Petite Sirah, Mourvedrè, Barbera and Alicante, which can be found in some of our Grandpère® Zinfandel blends. We analyze each block of land and plant and grow the varietal best suited to the conditions of that block. Within a single acre we sometimes locate several varietals to optimize growing conditions and foster the flavors and tastes that define our wines. Our estate-grown grapes are supplemented by fruit sourced from premier Amador County vineyards. The Old Vine Zinfandel tradition continues to thrive at Renwood with select vineyard sites that feature old vine, dry farmed, head-pruned Zinfandel. Each source is specially selected to highlight unique soils, elevations, exposure and vine material. Our winemakers work with these growers and recommend viticulture practices which result in the highest quality fruit. Renwood grows and sources grapes from more than 400 acres in Amador County.
