IGNI is a collaboration between two of the most recognized Italian-centric sommeliers in the U.S.: Shelley Lindgren, Wine Director of A16 restaurant in San Francisco and Oakland and Jeffrey Porter, Beverage Director of B & B Hospitality. Having been friends for over 15 years, both have championed lesser-known wines throughout the Italian peninsula. Last year over a bottle of wine they decided to start a project to bring people closer to the wine regions located on volcanic soils with growers that farm and produce balanced wines. Their first wine IGNI, hails from the Picini family, one of the best growers of the Vulture in the region of Basilicata. Together the Picini family, Shelley, and Jeff worked on a blend of two of the estates most prized vineyards to produce a wine that they all felt best transmitted the terroir of Vulture and the future of this appellation.
