Château de Fontenille is located very near the Abbey of La Sauve Majeure on gravel terroirs bathed in a generous sun.In the IVth century when the poet Ausone was praising the wines of the region, perched a villa at the locality called "Font e Melha" of which some ruins still remain today.As from 1524 the rich Cadouin family arrives and will be at the origin of all the first properties established at Fontemilles and are considered as the real founders of the property.We can find other traces in the XVth century in the archives of the Abbey of La Sauve Majeure on which Fontenille will depend until the XVIIth century.Since 1989 and after having discovered the abilities of the Entre-deux-Mers wines and their potentialities to produce great wines, Stéphane has taken the future of the wines of Château de Fontenille in hand.His objective to produce quality and high range products has been achieved with experience, passion and new technical means.
