"I love the black-cherry nose with delicate, smoky and rooty notes. However, that doesn't prepare you for the serious depth and power on the generous palate. The fine tannins are already beautifully integrated. Long, velvety finish with so many subtle nuances. Just 15% in new oak. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. 96" - James Suckling

"The 2020 Pinot Noir Clos de la Faille Monopole is from vines planted in 1998 next to a geological faultline at 280m altitude on a mix of Triassic sandstone and limestone topped with iron-rich tertiary conglomerates. The wine was harvested in two tries, the lower part first, then the upper part. It spent 18 months in 15% new oak. The nose is of ripe but tart cherry, with an immediate creaminess, and an aspect that veers between floral and stony. The palate is translucent, fresh, glossy and soft as silk satin. The tannins are superfine, fused, firm yet elastic. The palate reveals slight notions of dark chocolate and cocoa, and intense red fruit with much enticing freshness. The finish is totally mouth-watering. This shrugged off the heat of 2020, stands here with a matter-of-fact elegance that is most seductive. Subtle spice plays on the finish. Immense charm. (Bone-dry) 94 pts." - Vinous

Certified Biodynamic; Organic. 100% Pinot Noir from the Clos de La Faille, which is located next to the Grand Cru Hengst, and it is the only Clos in Alsace that is planted with 100% Pinot Noir. Vines were planted in 1998.

Domaine Albert Mann is the union of two great wine families: the Manns, winegrowers since the beginning of the 17th century and the Barthelm, the current owners, winegrowers since 1654. The Barthelm brothers, viticulturist Maurice and winemaker Jacky, were awarded Winemakers of the Year 2012 by Revue de Vin de France. They are rated both by Wine Advocate and Vinous to be in the top tier of Alsace producers. With a three-star rating in The Classement by Revue du Vin de France, Domaine Albert Mann is now heralded the world over. Using organic methods guided by biodynamic practices, the Barthelm brothers cultivate precisely controlled yields to obtain grapes of elevated maturity and complex substance. From the Pinot Auxerrois, through all of their expressive Grand Crus, to the specialized Selection Grains Noble, Maurice and Jacky consistently produce their wine in their own unique style. Never heavy, clumsy or out of balance, each carefully crafted vintage presents a beautiful delineation of flavors and precise textures.
About Albert Mann
The goal of the estate is to produce wine that is in harmony with nature. Wine is the memory of the grape and is capable of transmitting the taste of the earth.

Since 2000, the estate's wine have been organically certified by Ecocert. We began practising biodynamic viticulture in 1997 in three Grands Crus vineyards. Over the following years, we applied biodynamics across the entirety of our estate and since 2010, we have been in the process of receiving biodynamic certification from Biodyvin.

The viticultural practice is labour intensive and more costly but it gives the wine the purest reflection of its terroir and its own identity. In plowing the vineyards, we manage to make the roots go down to a maximum depth to capture the minerals of the rock degradation.
