The Wine Advocate 97
Opaque ruby purple in the glass, it has an incredible perfume loaded with oral nuances, its cassis and boysenberry fruit tempered by a mineral streak and accented by notes of dried thyme, fresh tobacco leaves, mint chocolate, clover and bay leaves. The palate is stunning, powerful but silky and fresh, lushly fruited and nuanced and finishing very long. While this 2018 is approachable and utterly delicious now, it will reward cellaring and should be very long lived. ~E.B.

"Aperture wines are small batch and they sell out quickly, but they are worth searching out, combining as they do the best of the Old and New World, delivering a powerful punch but well sculpted with natural balance and no acidification or other cellar tricks."

Aperture Cellars champions a range of expressive Bordeaux style wines from Sonoma County's premier cool-climate Bordeaux varietal vineyard sites. The aperture of a camera lens changes the amount of light a photographer has to work with; at Aperture, we're shedding light on what Bordeaux varieties in the cooler pockets of Sonoma are capable of. Warm, sunny days and brisk nights ensure that every bottle bursts with freshness, no matter how generous the fruit. None other than Wine Spectator has described our wines as "plump, intense and juicy" while remaining "clean and complex."
