"The 2009 Brunello di Montalcino comes across as lush and concentrated with bold fruit tones that wrap smoothly over the palate. The wine is well-balanced and really doesn't show overt signs of the hot 2009 vintage. In fact, the bright crispness, backed by sharp aromas of chopped mint and blue flower, show the quality of fruit that comes from this historic estates from one of the southern-most and warmest points of the appellation. This is a beautiful effort that will award those who wait a bit longer. Drink: 2017-2025."~M.L.

"A full, chewy red with velvety tannins and lots of berry, chocolate and cherry character. Rich and balanced. Better in 2015 when the tannins soften."~J.S.
Vinous Media 91
"Dark cherries, underbrush, sweet tobacco, menthol and licorice meld together in the 2009 Brunello di Montalcino, a wine that impresses for its nuance and overall complexity. The 2009 is beautiful and persistent on the palate, with excellent freshness for the vintage and enough structure to drink well for at least a handful of years."~A.G.
Wine Spectator 90
"A rich, fruity style, offering cherry, briar and tobacco notes, backed by dusty tannins. Open and bright, with fine length. Should be excellent with steak. Best from 2016 through 2025. 7,998 cases made."~B.S.
International Wine Report 93
"The 2009 Argiano is a classy showing, offering fantastic aromas of cherries, blackberries and plums, followed by spices, vanilla, sage and cedar notes which burst from the glass. It possesses wonderful balance and finesse with a surprisingly firm structure for the vintage. It is all wrapped up in a long, chewy finish that lingers on. Winemaker Hans Vinding-Diers ages the wine in two different types of wood. The first year is spent in French oak barriques and tonneaux with different capacities, while the second is spent in larger Slavonian oak barrels. After completing the maturing process in wood, the wine is then transferred into concrete tanks. This is drinking fantastic right now, but I would expect this to be even better after another year or so in bottle. (Best 2014-2021)"~J.D.

"Bright red. Flinty red berry, spicecake and licorice aromas on the fresh nose. Bright, juicy and suave on the palate, showing lovely sweetness to the red berry and licorice flavors. Finishes long and saline. Very well done."~S.T.
