" Layers of herbs and plummy fruit leather turn to layers of crushed rock as tannic intensity takes over this wine. A young, mineral tough, this is structured to age or to serve with braised beef cheese."

"Silky tannins frame a core of expressive red fruit in the 2009 Montefalco Rosso. Flowers and spices add complexity on the supple finish. Caprai's Montefalco Rosso is a more important wine than its modest price suggests. The Rosso is typically at its most complete between ages 7-10. The 2009 can be enjoyed now, but readers who seek tertiary nuance will want to cellar this for a few years. The Rosso is 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Merlot. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2019. " ~AG
" Rich, brilliant ruby red. The aroma is sensationally intense, with notes of ripe red fruit and delicate hints of vanilla. Full bodied, rich, dry with a long finish. Sangiovese 70%, Sagrantino 15%, Merlot 15% " ~ Winery notes
