Wine Spectator 90
"A bracing, steely style, with lemon zest, gooseberry and wet straw notes that have a rapier feel through the finish. Pure and chiseled now, but should mellow nicely with brief cellaring for those who want a broader feel. Drink now through 2016."
"This crisp and zesty. yet ripe Sauvignon Blanc displays text book aromas and flavors of green fig, gooseberry and lime along with grapefruit and kiwi. Grassy herbal notes are supported by elegant underpinnings of mineral and chalk. You get a lot of wine for your money with this Sauvignon Blanc from one of the last high value regions in the world.
Following a long, cold, wet winter which allowed the vines to rest properly, the 2014 harvest saw yields up almost 40%. The 2014 vintage was cool and dry, allowing for very slow, even ripening, producing lighter, more elegant, lower alcohol wines " ~ Winery notes

When you manage to get your tongue around it, Buitenverwachting (pronounced bay-ten-fur-vachk-ting) is Dutch for "beyond expectation." Today, however, locals lovingly refer to the farm as Bayten. Nestled at the base of the imposing Constantia Mountain, it's just a few miles from the azure blue of False Bay. The farm's history dates back to 1773, but in 1982, the property was extensively renovated and replanted, and now produces some of the Cape's most classical wines. Beyond expectation, indeed.
