"A custom cuvée made by Eric Solomon and Rafael de Haan, the 2015 Hazana Vinas Viejas is a classic, old school styled effort based on 85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano aged 10 months in French and American oak. With medium to full-bodied richness, excellent concentration, and lots of chocolatey dark fruits, new leather, dusty earth, and graphite notes, it’s one hell of a wine for 14 dollars."~J.D.

“Vivid ruby-red. Spice-accented red fruits, succulent flowers and a hint of coconut on the fragrant nose. Supple and broad in the mouth, offering fleshy raspberry and cherry cola flavors that pick up a hint of smokiness with aeration. In a forward, appealingly sweet style, with rounded tannins and a hint of cured meat sneaking in on the long, supple finish.“~J.R.
A very good wine representing a great value - This is not a great wine and I suspect it will not improve by keeping it in the cellar for two or three years but it is an absolutely delicious wine to drink right now and a remarkable value. Softer than many Rioja wines you could pair it with just about any sort of food (chicken, salmon, hamburgers and steaks). Dark fruit, velvety tannins, hints of forest floor, just enough complexity to keep it interesting and very pleasant in the mouth. Highly recommended.
