"Their 2014 La Cana Albarino, which is from a north-facing vineyard, is aged in stainless steel, although small portions are often barrel-fermented, depending on the vintage. This is a beauty: crisp, exotic, with white peach, honeysuckle and assorted tropical fruits, as well as apricot notes. It is medium bodied, fresh, lively and spent eight months on its lees. Naked in its fruit expression, this wine should drink nicely for another 1-2 years."
"The winery is located in the valley of Salnes which is the most northern section of the D.O. of Rias Baixas in close proximity to the water, in the town of Vilanova de Arousa.
There are 25 hectares (62 acres) of vineyards divided amongst 38 very small parcels in the valley. Some of these parcels are no more than one fifth of an acre. The diminutive size of these plots allows the grower to identify the unique quality of each vine.
All the vineyards were planted before 1990 in the pergola system which is traditional in this area. This method allows the fruit to remain high off the ground maximizing the health of the grapes and greatly reducing the need for fungicides. The yields are approximately 5-6 tons per hectare or 2.72 tons per acre.
The wine is aged sur lie, one part fermented in stainless-steel and the other part in large format French oak barrels"~WINERY NOTES

A cool new wine from the Jorge Ordonez Portfolio. A wine of this quality and magnitude can only come from carefully tended old gnarled vines grown under adverse conditions.
