Wine Spectator 96
Full-bodied and dense with flavor, this big red is a gentle powerhouse, remaining plush and approachable, with currant, quince, tangerine, cola and vanilla flavors, supported by well-integrated tannins and bright, citrusy acidity. Harmonious and complete, this delivers a successful blend of traditional and modern styles.

The jewel in our crown comes from an exclusive selection of old vines that produce very low yields of superb quality grapes. An exclusive pleasure that is only released in exceptional vintages. LAN's greatest achievement: the wine that represents the culmination of our work. Hand-picked and rigorously sorted from a selection of 40 to 60 year old vines from the single vineyard El Rincn parcel. Located in the southern part of their Via Lanciano estate in Rioja Alta next to the El Rincn mountain at a 491 meter altitude with gently sloping terrain, North South facing. Produced from traditional Rioja old bush vines.
Ripe cherry red, very intense and bright. A very complex and elegant nose, where aromas of red fruit in liqueur and blackberries stand out alongside patisserie and resinous notes, along with floral aromas including violets. Spiced hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, with some smoked notes. The mineral notes that characterize the soil of the Via Lanciano Estate are also present. A multitude of textures and flavors burst in the mouth. Very well structured, silky and full-bodied. It leaves a very long and enjoyable finish.
The grapes were hand-harvested in small crates and then selected by bunch and berry on sorting tables so that only grapes in perfect conditions of health and ripeness are allowed to continue to the next phase of vinification.
Alcoholic fermentation takes place in small truncated cone shaped tanks to maximize color extraction. Aged 26 months in new French oak barrels made from very fine-grained oak from the forests of Tronaise and Jupille. Afterwards, it remained in the bottle for 20 months to refine the aromas and round the palate.
