Complex nose with ripe black cherries, deeply integrated cedary oak, baking spices, dried owers, leather, fresh tobacco and earthy notes. This is silky and mellow with long, laid-back tannins that deliver ripe dark plum avors into a spicy and earthy nish. Drink or hold.

Denominacion de Origen: D.O.Ca. Rioja
Location: Barrio de la Estacin, Haro, Rioja Alta.
Varietal: 70 Tempranillo, 20 Garnacha, 7 Mazuelo, 3 Graciano.
Vineyards: Terrazas Ebro
Year(s) Planted: 1986-1999
Viticulture: Reserva produced from a completely traditional and sustainable style of Riojan viticulture, which is in fact organic, but uncertified. Vineyards that are planted in the coolest, highest altitude parts of Rioja Alta.
Soils: Terraced calcareous clay soils from the Tertiary or Cenozoic period.
Climate: Continental with Atlantic influences.
Winemaking: A pied de cuve is done to guarantee the quality of the indigenous fermentation in vats that are assembled by the winery's cooper. This is completely unique to Bodegas Muga. The wines are macerated and ferment in these vats and are transferred to barrels assembled at the winery for ageing.
Ageing: 24 months in barrels with French & American oak chosen and assembled into barrels by Mugas cooper. 12 months in bottle after egg white fining.
Comments: A traditional Rioja Reserva, produced from the most important indigenous Rioja varietals. Bodegas Muga is one of the most traditional and important Rioja wineries, and the only winery in Spain with their own master cooper.

Through the natural process of fining, we eliminate the suspended particles that appear in the wine.
We carry out the decanting by the traditional method of gravity.
We are the only cellar in Spain with a master cooper and three in-house barrel-makers.
