"Perfect aromas to this red with licorice, stone, peach pit, plum, leather, and iron. Full body, fine and silky tannins support a deep and rich fruit concentration that shows black fruit, Tuscan dust and oyster shell. Needs four or five years to soften but an amazing finish."
Wine Spectator 95
"Black cherry, black currant, cedar and tobacco flavors highlight this firm, dense red. This has the fruit, structure and harmony to develop, with a juicy finish and a lingering wild herb and mineral aftertaste. Best from 2018 through 2033. 7,083 cases made." –BS

"Dark red cherries, mocha, smoke, new oak, tobacco and spices are some of the notes that flesh out in the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino from Campogiovanni. Fleshy and seductive on the palate, the 2010 possesses terrific depth, richness and volume, all in a round, supple style that offers plenty of near and medium-term appeal. This is an excellent choice for drinking over the next decade or so. Drink: 2015-2025. (Feb 2015)" ~ AG
"The vineyards of Campogiovanni are situated on the southern side of Montalcino, where the unique combination of microclimate and soil composition create the ideal ripening conditions for sangiovese. Campogiovanni is a traditional Brunello, conditioned for an average of three years in Slavonian oak barrels and 500-litre tonneaux, and then for 12 months in the bottle. It stands out for its finesse and longevity."~Winery notes
A great wine - The Montalcino wines lately have been pretty awesome and this specific one knocks my socks off. A great wine that should get even better for several more years.
