"The 2009 Aglianico del Vulture Il Repertorio is laced with dark cherries, licorice, smoke, incense, tobacco and grilled herbs. Sweet floral notes add lift on the hugely attractive finish. In 2009, the Repertorio is relatively laid-back compared to some of the more recent releases, but it is quite beautiful all the same. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2016.
Cantina del Notaio has made a name for itself with rich, textured wines that bear the signature of longtime winemaker Luigi Moio, one of the most celebrated and influential oenologists in southern Italy. Today’s wines are a bit more restrained than they have been in the past, a positive development given that this fruit really needs little to shine. All of the wines are named after stages in the Italian legal process." ~ AG
" With a deep purple color with a touch of ruby, Repertorio reveals notes of primary fruit, with fresh cherry and strawberry on the nose, a prelude to this pleasantly rich, fruit-forward wine with hints of vanilla, white pepper and soft tannins. It is a great medium-bodied red to accompany any meal and to drink by the glass.
100% Aglianico grapes, macerated for 15 days on the skins. Aged for one year in second-passage barriques. Il Repertorio is soft and balanced after as little as one month in the bottle. " ~ Winery notes
