"Celler Besllums opaque purple-colored 2008 Xabec is a blend of 50% Carinena and 50% Garnacha aged in new French oak for 14 months. Aromas of pain grille, mineral, lavender, black cherry, black plum, and licorice inform the nose of this already complex, concentrated Montsant. Savory, ripe, and succulent, it has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years although this outstanding value can be approached now." ~JM
Wine Spectator 90
"A supple texture carries pretty flavors of black cherry, anise, mountain herb and toast in this light, polished red. The tannins are well-integrated, and juicy acidity keeps this focused. Carignan and Garnacha. Drink now through 2014."
Wine & Spirits 90
"A 50-50 blend of garnacha and carignan, this builds from scents of leather and sweet spice into a fan of tart red fruit and earth notes. It already shows complexity, and has the structure to continue to evolve over the next five years."
Nice with a twist! - A little different, really close to a malbec, with a different tannin..I would do her again!
