A beguiling bouquet of ripe cassis fruit, toasted bread, and subtle earth tones which epitomize all that is good in Grand Cru Bordeaux, which complement the wine’s dark ruby robe and seductive texture. EMPIRE STAFF REVIEW

The most food friendly red EVER.

"A fantastic example of old world style Merlot, the 2012 Ch. Haut Plaisance is medium bodied with hints of ripe berries and vanilla. Staying true to its roots, the blend finishes with notes of flowers and earthiness with a small touch of spice. Subtle tannins hold it together making this a perfect pairing for any beef dish or cheese platter."

A bit disappointed...

"I must admit - I did something I rarely (closer to never) do. I ordered a case in the blind. I had never tried this wine before - but have also never been disappointed by a St Emillion... NEVER! Admittedly, I was lured by the bottle price, accompanied by the "free shipping" tag attached. The wine was "OK" - perhaps sounding rash compared to the accolades that the reviews had provided. Don't get me wrong - it's most drinkable and I will surely enjoy the case. The wine had a bit too much tanin for me for a St. Emillion Bordeaux - which almost always finishes smoothly with no "sting" in the throat. Not quite a bite - but the "silkiness" I've come to expect from even the lesser expensive St Emillions was prominently missing. In comparison, I had also ordered a case of Chateau Saint Andre Corbin St Georges St Emillion 2014. I HAD tried this previously with a younger vintage and enjoyed it very much for the price at the time. I will tell you that this wine, at a dollar/bottle less (even though no free shipping) was FAR superior. One of the best St Emillions for the money! In sum... while I'll surely drink the Haut Plaisance (its way better decanted) try a case of the Saint Andre Corbin! You won't be disappointed!"
