"Courtney Foley oversees winemaking at Chalk Hill, the 1,300-acre estate her father, Bill Foley, purchased in 2010. 117 of those acres are devoted to chardonnay, rooted in the layer of chalk-white volcanic ash that gives the estate and the surrounding appellation its name. Theres cool earthiness running through it, balancing the wines warmth and lengthening the fruit savor." -W&S

Wine Spectator 91
"Intense and well-structured, with flavors of Bosc pear, Fuji apple and ruby grapefruit, supported by firm acidity. Dried savory herb notes linger on the fresh, pure-tasting finish."-WS

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 91
"The 2017 Chardonnay Estate opens with notes of toast, cream, lemon pith and hay over a core of Red Delicious apple and banana chips. The medium-bodied palate is rounded and creamy with toasty spice and honey notions, finishing long and lifted with juicy acidity."-WA

Perhaps no other winery captures the casual luxury of Sonoma County better than Chalk Hill Estate. Founded nearly four decades ago, this spectacular 1300-acre property features 300 acres of vineyards, wilderness areas, winery, hospitality center, culinary garden, residence, stables, equestrian pavilion, sports fields, fishing and swimming ponds, and guest houses.
The winery's vineyards are thoughtfully woven through the native foliage and contoured to fit the intricate terrain. More than two-thirds of the Chalk Hill Estate remains uncultivated. The higher elevations offer stunning views of the Russian River Valley to the west and the Mayacamas Mountains to the east.-Winery Notes
About Chalk Hill
On a spring day in 1972, while piloting his plane over the Russian River, Chalk Hill's founder, Fred Furth, caught his first view of a natural amphitheatre carved into the hills of eastern Sonoma. His intuition told him the land had the potential to support a world-class vineyard. A subsequent tour confirmed that the spectacular property indeed had the climate and soils to grow luxury-class wine grapes.

Chalk Hill, Russian River Valley, CA. The Chalk Hill wines are all Estate grown, bottled and produced on the 1277 acre Chalk Hill Estate with 280 acres grown to vine. The incredible diversity of terroir coupled with a site driven philosophy and meticulous attention to detail allow Chalk Hill to create world-class wines of power and elegance. The vineyard has several clones of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet on the Estate along with a variety of soil types all within the single estate which makes it a place where both Burgundian and Bordeaux varietals can be grown.
