The 2017 Chardonnay Sonoma Coast is scented of lemon confit, Greek yogurt, honey toast, toasted almonds and stone over ripe red apple and white stone fruits. Medium-bodied, it offers pretty savory/honeyed fruits with refreshing acidity and a long finish packed with honey-nut flavors.
The Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is golden in color. Aromas of yellow apple, melon, citrus zest and mango meld beautifully with notes of toasted hazelnut and vanilla custard from the oak aging. Pure and rich with an elegant palate, it displays fruit-forward flavors of golden apple, nectarine, and guava with subtle hints of butterscotch. With its cool-climate inuences, this Chardonnay has remarkable varietal intensity, balanced acidity and mineral notes that complement the rich and full flavors of baked apples, and vanilla cream.-Winemakers Notes
Chalk Hill Estate Vineyards and Winery was purchased recently by Bill Foley, proprietor of Foley Family Wines, who will continue the time-honored traditions that Fred Furth began. Founded in 1972 by Fred Furth, the Chalk Hill Estate encompasses 280 acres of carefully positioned vineyards, including the valley floor, hillsides, and ridge tops of a 1300 acre estate. Perpetuating the time-honored traditions of the first land grant pioneers, the Chalk Hill Estate operates as a family farm with the daily tasks of sustainable viticulture flowing seamlessly through the growing season and ultimately to estate bottled wines. Chalk Hill is the only 100 estate winery in the Chalk Hill AVA nestled within the Russian River Valley. The passion for meticulous viticulture has resulted in elegant, world-class wines.-Winery Notes

On a spring day in 1972, while piloting his plane over the Russian River, Chalk Hill's founder, Fred Furth, caught his first view of a natural amphitheatre carved into the hills of eastern Sonoma. His intuition told him the land had the potential to support a world-class vineyard. A subsequent tour confirmed that the spectacular property indeed had the climate and soils to grow luxury-class wine grapes.
