Chateau Grand Village Bordeaux Superior 2009
Item Number: 26901
James Suckling 91
"A solid wine, with dark berries and hints of lemon rind. Lemon grassy. Full body, with fine tannins and a delicate fruity finish. Refined. Why wait? From the owner's of Pomerol's great Lafleur. But better in 2014"
77% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Franc
Château Grand Village uses many of the same vineyard farming techniques employed at Guinaudeau’s famous estate, Château Lafleur in Pomerol.
The vineyards of Château Grand Village have remained in the hands of the Guinaudeau family since the 17th century and is today the home base for Jacques and Sylvie’s family. The 40 acres of Château Grand Village are planted only to red grape varietals: 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The average age of the vines is approximately 20 years. The estate is located between Fronsac and Bourg. The terroir is made of clay-calcareous soil.
