This is rich, with deeply worked flexible tannins providing fine structure, but they are weighty and clearly able to age. This is a good quality Medoc with typicity and a real sense of confidence - I love the dusky damson feel to the fruits. Not likely to begin selling for the next five to eight years, as this estate unusually holds its wines back until it feels they are ready for drinking.

Spicy, structured and with a smoky character, this rich wine will develop power. It has a dense texture, layers of tannins that are integrating with the blackberry fruits. This will be a good wine as it matures.

Balance and freshness to this with a mineral, bark and dark berry. Medium body, fine tannins. A little light but well done.

The 2015 La Cardonne has a crisp and focused blackberry and bilberry-scented bouquet with subtle estuarine scents percolating through. The palate is medium-bodied with well-built tannin, a little sinew on the entry, but there is plenty of clean and pure fruit here, well-judged acidity and a sweet finish that needs 6 to 8 months to absorb the oak. Good potential here.
Sitting proudly on the Medoc's highest plateau, Chateau LA CARDONNE has consistently produced the finest Medoc Cru Bourgeois wines for over three centuries.
Chateau LA CARDONNE is vinified in an elegant fruit-forward style, with ripe blackcurrant and plum fruit, balanced by a rich, medium to full-bodied palate, with cedary, pencil-shaving character and smooth silky tannins.

Our philosophy is somewhat different to many in Bordeaux. In 1990 we built the largest underground cellar in the region, locally known as "The Cathedral", where we have the ability to stock over 10 separate vintages, releasing the wines as they become ready to drink.
Deep garnet red, with purple highlights. The bouquet mingles black fruits (blueberry, blackberry), spices and perfectly integrated wood. The palate is rich, round and fresh. Impressive and yet fine tannins, very promising. A long finish with vanilla aroma.
