“The best rosé I’ve tasted so far this year. Strawberry, watermelon, honeydew, orange peel, the scent of wild herbal scrub carried on a Mediterranean breeze — it’s all here in this heavy, oddly shaped frosted bottle. It’s a victory dance in a glass, that sensation when you cross the finish line of a race, spike a football in the end zone, peel off the final notes of a jazz riff, or hit send on the last chapter of a manuscript — a big “Yes!” to life with every sip.” ABV: 13 percent. BW: 760 grams (Heavy). 6/2/22
Tasting Notes
Lovely pale color, complex and flattering citrus nose. It offers clean, crisp notes of white peach, strawberries and hint of flowers in the mouth. A great very balanced ros for all occasions.
Description
Located 20 km North East from Montpellier, Puech-Haut soils spread out on 250 ha between 50 and 150 m height. This terroir is made of round pebbles on top of a 4 meters clay layer has a Mediterranean climate. The grapes came into the winery very early in the morning ( between 2 to 8 AM). After a soft press, the juice is transferred to stainless tanks where it is fermented and aged prior to the wine resting and bottling. This beautiful ros is as elegant as it is complexly interesting.
Estate
Languedoc is one of the most exciting regions in France right now. Chteau Puech-Haut is a prestigious estate in the eastern Languedoc producing top quality wines for very reasonable prices. The wines from Puech-Haut are rich and lush but also show the earthy and mineral character of the rocky clay-limestone soils of the region. They benefit from both its proximity to the Mediterranean and the rugged, mountainous interior.
Food pairing
Pair this rose with rice dishes, Mediterranean cuisine, salads, vegtables; also great as an aparitif.
Technical data
Soil: Calcareous-clay & pebbles
Vinification material: 100% Stainless steel
Château Puech-Haut has been on the critic's radar for some time – which makes sense since the property has employed Michel Rolland, Claude Gros and now Philippe Cambie as consulting enologist. Visionary owner Gérard Bru spares no expense in his quest for excellence. Located quite close to Pic Saint-Loup, in Saint-Drézéry, Puech-Haut is near the far western border of the Rhône valley and benefits from both its proximity to the Mediterranean and the rugged, mountainous interior of France. There are slightly over 50 hectares planted with Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, Carignan, Viognier, Marsanne, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Carignan Blanc. The wines from Puech-Haut are rich and lush but also show the earthy and mineral character of the rocky clay-limestone soils of the region.
