Choya

ChoyaUmeshu is a traditional Japanese liqueur made from ume fruit. A perfect balance between ume extract and alcohol is achieved by aging the whole fruit, with the stone still inside. The delicious tang of Umeshu comes from citric acid in the fruit, and the refreshing flavour stimulates the appetite. Umeshu also contains malic and succinic acids. Refresh yourself by enjoying a glass of Umeshu when feeling tired. The addition of alcohol to the fruit during production means that the ume flavour can be extracted not only from the flesh and skin but also from the stone. It is this process which gives CHOYA Umeshu its unique fruity bouquet, with notes of almond and marzipan.

A Favorite

"This wine has been a long favorite of mine, and I was glad to find it at a reasonable price. The flavor is more balanced than the overly sweet pseudo, "plum-flavored" wine that you'll typically find in your local liquor store. The real umeshu plums in the bottom are a great finish to the bottle, and the bottle itself is well designed and useful for those who like to reuse containers. Box packaging was great, first time purchasing from this store. Will be back."

CHOYA is the best plum wine maker in Japan!

"I lived in Japan for 2 years. Choya is the best -- accept no substitute like the cheaper brands carried at Trader Joes. This is a phenomenal price, as most vendors sells this for $25 in the US. Mix with club soda over ice to dilute it and make a 'soda' since it's so sweet alone -- that's how they serve it at karaoke bars in Japan."
