It doesnt have the richness or concentration of the reserve, yet its better balanced. Drink this beauty over the coming 15 years or so.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93
Also blended with a splash of Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with dusty, dark blackberry essence with the rusticity of Red Mountain terroir. Full-bodied and weighted on the palate, the wine offers a balanced frame and some tight tannins that will loosen in time before. The wine ends with flavors of pencil shavings, cedar and plum reduction on the long, drawn-out finish. It's always good and constantly dependable.
James Suckling 93
A rather lean, gritty-textured cabernet with lots of iodine, blackberry and confer undertones. Full-bodied, tight and rich. Better in 2021. Drink or hold.
Wine Spectator 92
Savory and well-proportioned, with a fervent structure of tannin and acid, balanced by deep blackberry and green olive flavors. Drink now through 2029.

Col Solares flagship red, this has a demonstrative cedar scent and flavors of blueberry and black cherry. Its a powerful wine, dense and tannic, with a furry, suedelike texture that stops just short of excess. It needs time in the cellar before uncorking it for lamb.
With opening of a new winery and planting of the estate vineyard on Red Mountain in 2007, that vision has evolved to focus on showcasing the Cabernet Sauvignon of this unique AVA and, ultimately, the specific fruit of the Col Solare estate vineyard. While this vineyard is young, Col Solare's partners and winemaking team have high hopes that it will produce wines to be enjoyed for years to come.
