"Corte Fiore means “Court Flower.” It is the creation of Passione Natura, a group of select growers in the Italian regions of Abruzzo and Veneto. Their mission is the revitalization of vineyard sites throughout these regions; and their motto is: "...To embrace an appreciation for good wine and continue to respect the land that produced it...." Practicing sustainable methods, the wines from Corte Fiore focus on the terroir of Italy’s finest regions to create quality, value-driven wines.
CORTE FIORE APPASSIMENTO is a red wine made from Montepulciano grapes grown at high elevations in the inner regions of Abruzzo, away from the coast. At higher altitudes the climate is cooler and sometimes grapes can struggle to achieve sugar ripeness. The Appassimento technique is an old, traditional Italian method that involves leaving the grapes on the vine to raisin (as in this wine), or picking and then drying them (as in the making of Amarone). The evaporation of water from healthy grapes results in wines with greater concentration, body and texture. Through this method, a winemaker can create more robust wines from grapes grown in a cooler climate.
This wine features aromas of wild cherry and red plum, followed by notes of juicy fruit, bright acidity and ripe tannins. Available in beautiful wood boxes!" ~ Winery notes.
