"The 2011 Macon-Vergisson La Roche comes from easterly-orientated 30-year-old vines located at 350 meters altitude. Raised in 15% new oak in 300-liter barrels, it has a finely tuned bouquet with delicate touches of smoke, honeysuckle and jasmine that take a little while to find their feet. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the citric entry that immediately brings the senses to alert. It is tightly coiled with effervescent apricot and quince notes toward the animated, energetic finish. Superb. Drink now-2018." ~ NM

Allan Meadows Burghound 89-91
"A ripe and exceptionally fresh nose of white orchard fruit, lemon rind and a hint of wet stone introduces rich and impressively proportioned medium-bodied flavors that possess an abundance of mouth coating extract. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension and fine complexity on the long and well-balanced finish. This is really very stylish."

A blend of four parcels of land:"Terres du Perret, la Côte Carmentrant et Vignes Dessus" with vines between 30 and 45 years of age, this wine is very mineral, fat and well balanced.

“Daniel Barraud is without question one of the finest growers in all of the Mâconnais, and there is a credible argument to be made that his remarkable consistency vaults him right to the very top of the list.” --Allen Meadows (AKA Burghound)

Daniel Barraud’s wines bring to life like none other the best terroirs of the Maconnais. The combination of richness, precision, and minerality in his wines is consistently remarkable. He works 100% organically, harvests all of his parcels by hand, and bottles without fining or filtration. With the exception of the Macon-Chaintré, these wines are all barrel-aged, with varying percentages of new oak depending on the vineyard, but the oak plays a supporting role and is always beautifully integrated. These are truly greater and more interesting than the vast majority of wines from blue-chip Cote d’Or terroirs!
