"The 2011 Pouilly-Fuisse En France comes from vines planted in clay-like soils close to the castle in the center of Vergisson. It has a pretty, stony bouquet with hints of limestone and oyster shell that gradually build in the glass, but never become overpowering. The palate is well-balanced with crisp acidity, a grainy texture and a composed lime and Granny Smith finish that lingers long in the mouth. Very fine. Drink now-2018." ~ NM

"Once again the nose is difficult to read due to the presence of lingering fermentation aromas. The middle weight flavors also exhibit fine power and mid-palate density though here they are slightly finer, particularly on the impressively long, balanced and complex finish. There is just a bit more of everything."
Made from vines planted in 1977 on chalky soil. The minerality expresses itself through the power and length of the wine which also reveals delicious aromas of fresh fruits.
“Daniel Barraud is without question one of the finest growers in all of the Mâconnais, and there is a credible argument to be made that his remarkable consistency vaults him right to the very top of the list.” --Allen Meadows (AKA Burghound)
Daniel Barraud’s wines bring to life like none other the best terroirs of the Maconnais. The combination of richness, precision, and minerality in his wines is consistently remarkable. He works 100% organically, harvests all of his parcels by hand, and bottles without fining or filtration. With the exception of the Macon-Chaintré, these wines are all barrel-aged, with varying percentages of new oak depending on the vineyard, but the oak plays a supporting role and is always beautifully integrated. These are truly greater and more interesting than the vast majority of wines from blue-chip Cote d’Or terroirs!
Lovely - quaffable yet complex. Minerality blends well with seafood or on its own.
