"The 2016 Pinot Noir Memorious, from a 3.5-acre parcel that's typically the last to be harvested, offers up a lifted and perfumed nose of Griotte cherry, orange rind, cassis, currant leaf, raspberry and rose hip. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with a rich chassis of supple tannins, lovely depth at the core, superb concentration and a long, lingering finish. A strong undercurrent of salinity always seems to distinguish this site, and that's unmistakably present in the 2016 rendition."

"The is another dense, resonant wine endowed with real pedigree and class. A rush of sweet red berry fruit, mint, savory herbs and flowers fills out the wine's frame effortlessly, with bright citrus and white pepper overtones that add life. The Memorious is perhaps not quite as vertical or complex as the other single-vineyard wines in the range, but in exchange it will drink well earlier. Here, too, the 100% whole clusters are very well integrated into the wine's fabric. -- Antonio Galloni"
"To date, our most compelling and integrated Memorious bottling, the 2016 is effusive, with a broad aromatic spectrum of dark floral elements, bright red fruits, black tea, and a brooding bass note of iron and incense. The palate beams with liveliness over a texturally rich core of red fruit. As with the 2015 vintage, the savory, saline flourish on the finish signals the vineyard’s position on the Domaine’s windward edge, immediately downslope from its stylistic sibling, Bloom’s Field."
Domaine de la Côte translates literally to ‘Estate of the Slope’. Our Domaine is a collection of 5 vineyards planted along a south-facing hillside at the western edge of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation in Santa Barbara County. Rising to an elevation of 700 feet, the Domaine sits atop a 25 million year old seabed, just 7 miles from the Pacific Ocean.
Memorious, Bloom’s Field, la Côte, and Siren’s Call are the names of our Pinot Noir vineyards which are planted entirely to California heritage selections (Calera, Swan, and Mt. Eden) at extremely high vine densities between 4,000 and 7,000 vines per acre. Although the Domaine spans a mere 60 acres, the diversity of each site is staggering: each vineyard has a unique geology, aspect, elevation and microclimate. Such distinct expressions of site in such close proximity is unparalleled in California.
In the cellar we vinify and raise the wines from these distinct sites in an identical manner. This consistency in winemaking further underscores the differences in terroir across the Domaine. Our Pinot Noir grapes are whole-cluster fermented in open, concrete tanks. We manually punchdown each vat throughout the fermentation. The wines are raised exclusively in Ermitage barrels, a minority of which are new each vintage. The wines are bottled without any fining or filtration after 14 months in barrel.
