"Well-balanced, this is creamy on the palate and lightly juicy throughout, with flavors of pureed black raspberry, star anise and fresh, loamy earth. Drink now. 550 cases imported. —A.N."

"This is a wine that’s not just bubbly and fruity, but also has weight and structure. It’s instantly drinkable, with a fine sense of balance. Michael Skurnik Wines."

" Domaine de la Madone is run by the Bererd family, whose Beaujolais ancestry dates back to the 16th century. Brothers Olivier, Bruno and Frédéric hand-harvest their vineyards of low-yielding old vines only when the grapes have achieved optimal ripeness.

The vineyards of Domaine de la Madone are contiguous to the crus of Brouilly, Beaujolais’ southernmost cru, though their altitude is even higher—equal to that of the regal crus Chénas, Fleurie, Juliénas, etc. This altitude yields wines of greater complexity and depth than nearly any other wines designated Beaujolais-Villages, with the steep pink granite slopes upon which they grow their Gamay offer some of the most truly dramatic vistas in the region.

This limited-production Nouveau ever since. It consistently finishes at the top of the Nouveau rankings in Wine Spectator and the New York Times

About the Winery: Distinguished by ancestry dating to the 16th century, brothers Olivier, Bruno and Frederic Bererd, proprietors of Domaine de la Madone, farm this family vineyard where many of their low-yielding Gamay vines are 100 years old. The domaine is located in Perreon (also the maiden name of Marie Odette, the Bererd brothers' mother!), a superior, northern, hilly part of the Beaujolais region. Madone’s Beaujolais-Villages has consistently received critical acclaim from Robert Parker, who writes that the Madone style is “...about as hedonistic and compelling an example of Beaujolais as readers are likely to find." ~ Winery notes
