"Tasted out of bottle, the 2020 Condrieu Les Grandes Chaillées sports a light gold hue as well as a gorgeous bouquet of quince, white peach, white flowers, honeysuckle, and spice. It's medium-bodied and beautifully textured, with good acidity and a great finish. It's another gorgeous Condrieu from this team and would be a great introduction to the style and quality of this reference point estate."

"The 2020 Condrieu “les Grandes Chailées” from Stéphane Montez undergoes its malolactic fermentation in cask and is aged in barrels, with twenty-five percent renewed each year. The wine comes in at fourteen percent octane this year and delivers a beautiful, classic bouquet of pear, acacia blossoms, stony minerality, coriander seed and a touch of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is vibrant, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a fine girdle of acidity, a lovely core, good mineral drive and a long, complex and beautifully balanced finish that is light on its feet and very classy. This is first class and nicely old school Condrieu! 2022-2035. 93."

Located in Condrieu, high up on a gorgeous west-facing slope overlooking the Rhône River, this superb estate is managed by the young and charismatic Stéphane Montez. On these hills, Stéphane's Viognier flourishes in the Chaillées terraces, dry stone walls that were built by the Romans 2000 years ago. The area of terraces is located on the eastern outskirts of Mount Pilat (1434 m) which offers a protective climate and gentle breezes as well as magmatic plutonic rocks (granite) and metamorphic rocks (schist, gneiss and migmatites). Stephane's wines are highly praised in Revue du Vin de France.
