"As is always the case chez Chartron, the Clos des Chevaliers is again the finest wine in the cellar in 2020 and one of the best white wines produced in the Cte de Beaune in this vintage. "As is always the case chez Chartron, the Clos des Chevaliers is again the finest wine in the cellar in 2020 and one of the best white wines produced in the Cte de Beaune in this vintage. The stunning bouquet delivers a constellation of pear, passion fruit, orange zest, incipient notes of crme patissire, a simply beautiful base of chalky soil tones, fresh almond, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, seamless and refined, with great depth at the core, vibrant acids, laser-like focus and a very, very long, electric and elegant finish. Magical white Burgundy."

Vinous 94-96
"The 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Clos de Chevaliers Grand Cru totals 6 barrels this year. Wonderful mineralit on the nose here: this is tensile, energetic with a subtle sea cave aroma that gains intensity in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh with discrete tropical veins towards the harmonious finish, a hint of frangipane on the aftertaste. Superb."

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 93-95
"Chartron's finest wine is the 2020 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Clos des Chevaliers, an attractive white that wafts from the glass with notes of citrus oil, crisp green apple, white flowers, struck match and almond paste. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with an elegantly fleshy core of fruit, bright acids and a saline finish, it should age with grace."

Allen Meadows - Burghound 92-95
"This is aromatically quite smoky in character with its nose of pear essence, citrus confit and equally broad-ranging floral elements. I very much like the sophisticated texture of the mineral-driven broad-shouldered flavors that exude an abundance of minerality on the impressively persistent and beautifully delineated finale. This is quite firm and should age well yet it is not so tightly wound that it couldn't be approached after around 5 or so years."

Decanter 94
"Charton has a magnificent holding of 12 ouvres (0.47 hectares) at the northern end of Chevalier-Montrachet called the Clos des Chevaliers, entirely enclosed by walls. Half of the vineyard was planted right after WWII. The 2019 vintage is riveting. The aromas range from green apple to chamomile, butter, and hazelnut. The wine has the power of Btard, but with more finesse and an almost Montrachet-like length. Top-level stuff, this should age for decades."
About Domaine Jean Chartron
Founded in 1859 by companion cooper Jean-Edouard Dupard, Domaine Jean Chartron has succeeded five generations, all concerned with the development and prosperity of the prestigious vineyard, as well as the good management of the commune.

This commune owes its name to him. In 1873 Jean-Edouard Dupard ordered the town council to deliberate so that the commune could be authorized to add the name of Montrachet , its most prestigious vintage, to that of Puligny .
