"Even better and one of the wines of the vintage, the spectacular 2011 Rasteau 1921 is comprised of 90% Grenache, 7% Mourvedre and 3% Carignan, with the Grenache coming from vines planted in 1921. Offering up a stunning bouquet of black raspberry, licorice, spring flowers, underbrush and lavender, this medium to full-bodied, elegant, yet substantial 2011 has gorgeous overall balance, solid mid-palate depth and sweet tannin that comes through on the finish. Count me a fan. This seriously impressive Rasteau will drink well for upward of a decade."~Jeb Dunnuck

"This 2011 is a smoking follow up to the even richer, more concentrated 2010. Comprised of almost all Grenache (7% Mourvedre and a splash of Carignan) and from vines planted in 1921, it's a knockout bottle of wine that sells for a song."

"The blockbuster 2011 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau Cuvee 1921 is composed of 90% Grenache, 7% Mourvedre and 3% Carignan. The Grenache comes from a vineyard planted in 1921. Yields were 20 hectoliters per hectare, which is virtually nothing. This wine boasts a dense ruby/purple color as well as a sweet bouquet of raspberry liqueur, licorice, incense, lavender and spice. Medium to full-bodied, very elegant for a Rasteau and impressively pure, it should drink well for a decade."
