"The 2010 Vacqueyras Le Clos has more Syrah in the mix and is made from 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah. Aged completely in vat (as are all of this estates wines), it is a gorgeous effort that reveals layers of black raspberry, blackberry, leather, licorice, and spice on the nose. Full-bodied and balanced on the palate, with great acidity, serious concentration, and big structure, it needs 2-3 years of bottle age, and will have a solid 10-12 year drink window. This is an impressive Vacqueyras to say the least.." ~JD

"Opaque ruby. Cherry, dark berries and licorice on the nose, with mineral and Indian spice nuance gaining power with air. Deeply concentrated yet impressively lively on the palate, offering incisive blackberry and bitter cherry flavors with a hint of lavender pastille. Dusty tannins give shape and grip to the very long spicy/floral finish. This Vacqueyras is built for aging. "~JR

"Montirius has been a family estate for 5 generations. The slow conversion process from traditional to bio-dynamic vineyard management and wine making of the 133 acres owned by the family was started by Eric’s father Max in 1980. The estate was fully converted in 1996 and in 1999 Montirius became the first winery in the Vacqueyras & Gigondas appellations to be certified Bio-Dynamic. The estate is certified organic by Ecocert and Bio-Dynamic by Biodyvin."
