This plot, Les Clos, is located on land surrounding the Chateau de Chevignes, a property that belonged to the Cluny monks in the 12th century. The vines are 25 years old. The east-facing vines are planted at the foot of the slope on deep silty, predominately clay soil.

Our Macon wines are light, crisp, fresh, fruity, and floral. When young, they are appreciated for their vitality, freshness, and tartness. These easy-going wines are synonymous with pleasure and celebration. Simple to understand and appreciate, they are not only attractive, but also represent the sort of pleasure one can enjoy every day, at an outdoor lunch, as an aperitif with friends, with a picnic on a river bank, etc.

Domaine des Valanges has always tended my vines in a spirit of respect for the environment, and in view of making fine wine.

We focus on traditional methods that reflect the terroir in order to produce wines of character.

Furthermore, we feel it is important to let the vines find a natural equilibrium within their ecosystem. We therefore intervene as little as possible in both viticulture and winemaking to retain each cuvée's personality, as well as vintage character.
