Item Description

"A classic Crozes Hermitage, this is a Northern Rhone Syrah that over-delivers on every level...just the way we like it! Full of rich, smoky black fruit, with notes of black pepper, tapenade, grilled meat, and tar. Although the Tardy family has been growing grapes for generations, they only began to estate-bottle in 1979. They farm 25 hectares of vines: 21 hectares of Syrah and 4 hectares of Marsanne. The Syrah vineyards are on the pebbly limestone terrace of Les Chassis, thought to be among the best sectors within Crozes-Hermitage. The vines average 30 years of age and yields are kept at a modest 40 hectoliters/hectare. The family has been practiciing organic farming for a number of years and earned organic certification in 2012. The grapes are hand harvested, 100% de-stemmed, and fermented with natural yeasts."~Distributor Notes

The Marsanne grows on the historic hillsides of Mercurol, an appellation that was once as highly sought after (and costly) as Montrachet. Nothing Beats a Good Syrah

"This is an unbelievable value for what you're getting in this bottle. Beautiful rich black fruit emerge after only a short amount of aeration. The finish is a lip smacking smokey grilled meat flavor that cannot be missed. Pair this with any hearty stew and you will be a very happy person."
