“A sensational wine that will compete with wines five times the price, the 2016 Novellum Chardonnay is the real deal and actually reminded me of a Chardonnay from Mark Aubert in California's Sonoma County. White peach, crushed rocks, spice and brioche notes all emerge from this medium to full-bodied Chardonnay that has depth, layered texture and length. Buy it.”~J.D.

" Chardonnay shows up in some remarkable places but few as breathtaking as the Roussillon where the Pyrenees meet the Mediterranean. From vineyards just a stone’s throw from the beach and within view of the historic Mont Canigou comes Novellum, a refined, aromatic and elegant Chardonnay that is aged in tank and neutral French barrels. European Cellars

European CellarsSomeone once made an unflattering comparison between Chardonnay and a part of one's anatomy best left unmentioned, saying "everyone's got one, no one wants to hear about yours." Sadly, Chardonnay is a victim of its own success and frequently a punch line, despite being one of the most highly esteemed wines in its guise of Grand Cru Chablis or Montrachet. We are not claiming that Novellum is like these auspicious wines, but we will argue that for its price you can hardly find better. The project is from the Roussillon, where husband and wife team of Domaine Lafage fame, Jean-Marc and Eliane Lafage, have some Chardonnay planted near the Mediterranean that makes a remarkably complex and mineral version of the variety. A small percentage is aged in barrel – usually less than 30%. The remainder of the wine is aged in tank on the lees of Viognier. It remains one of the best values in Chardonnay that you can find.

Finally! A Chardonnaythat threads the needle.

"Not too brassy/bright but not too cloying/buttery. A little of both mineral brace and buttery richness makes this an absolutely perfect buy-by-the-case wine."

Gilles

great

A Winner

"Finding a good Chardonnay at this price is almost impossible. Novellum comes through and is comparable to wines costing two to three times it’s price. Excellent wine, excellent value."

Wow!

"QPR here is great. When served, people thought it was a Cali Chard. Nice old word wine and new world flavor profile. Yummy stuff. Just bought another case."

Stephen

Nice!

"This is a very nice Chardonnay. Huge, nose with complex aromas, apple, pear, vanilla and a slight citrus note. Solid medium plus body with great fruit and smooth texture. Fairly complex and better than most chards that I spend 3x-4x as much on. Huge score."
