Item Description
Wine Advocate 93
"Shows off tons of pure opulence from the very first taste. A warm, resonant bouquet laced with dark red raspberries, mocha, espresso and cloves leads to layers of deeply textured fruit, while veins of underlying acidity give the wine its centeredness and poise. There is a lot to like in this forward, voluptuous Cabernet Sauvignon”
On the Palate
Our 2009 Gallo Estate Cabernet Sauvignon blends the finest Cabernet lots from our Sonoma County vineyards. This wine is complex with sweet aromatics and dense, chewy tannins. The palate reveals black and blue jammy fruit, underscored by hints of spice. This wine will continue to develop complex layers of flavor with up to ten years of cellar aging.
In the Cellar
The grapes for our 2009 Gallo Estate Cabernet Sauvignon were hand harvested, hand sorted, destemmed and cold soaked for two days to maximize the extraction of vivid color and flavor. The grapes were fermented in seven-ton, open top fermenters at a maximum of 90°F, and the juice remained in contact with the skins for 14-25 days. This wine underwent malolactic fermentation and was aged in predominantly new French oak barrels for 22 months.
