Wine Advocate 90
"The 2009 Gran Reserva Malbec contains 4% Cabernet Sauvignon and spent 12 months in French oak. Notions of pain grille, pencil lead, lavender, red licorice and black cherry lead to a wine with greater density and richness than the Reserva bottling. This pleasure-bent Malbec is an outstanding value that has the structure to evolve for 1-2 years and will deliver prime drinking from 2012 to 2021."~JM
Wine Spectator 89
"A ripe, muscular style, sporting graphite and licorice flavors to frame the core of damson plum, linzer torte and cassis. The long, rich finish stays nicely focused and detailed. Drink now. 5,000 cases made."~JM
Finca El OrigenView all from Finca El Origen
Finca el Origen is the Argentinean winery of the Carolina Wine Brands winery cluster, the fourth most important group in Chile volume-wise, also integrated by Viña Santa Carolina (founded in 1875), Viña Casablanca, Ochagavía and Antares.
The project in Mendoza began in 1996 with the plantation of the first vineyards in Vista Flores, Uco Valley, at the foothills of the Andes mountain range. During the first years, the business was focused on commercializing ultra-premium grapes from an area that was increasingly gaining prestige until it became the most celebrated area of the country. In 2002, after achieving great expertise managing the vineyards, we started producing wines from our own vineyards, with a boutique concept and a single vineyard spirit.
