Cherry preserves, cocktail bitters, dusty, peppery spice and dried flowers are all at the fore on this fragrant, easy-to-like Pinot. Theres a brightness and lightness to the fruit, thanks to lovely acidity. Its all wound up in well structured, textural tannins, with a mineral through line. A tightrope of elegance, power and age-worthiness, this hasnt reached its peak yet and has perhaps a decade left in it.

Vibrant, with aromatics leaping out of the glass, including palo santo, sandalwood and a touch of singed tobacco, which complement the blackberry, blueberry and huckleberry flavors. Reveals spice notes of star anise, fennel and nutmeg, with a touch of green tea lingering on the finish. Drink now.

11 months in French oak (30% new) ~ A virtual fruit compote loaded with juicy strawberries, blackberries and blackcurrants gently poached and lightly infused with cloves, five-spice and stem ginger. An intensely perfumed Marlborough pinot with fruit sweetness, floral highlights and a distinct smoky fragrance. The full-flavoured palate is chock-full of red and black fruit and has great length, firm but delicate tannins and a delicious spicy finish. ~winery notes

One of New Zealands pioneering winemakers, Kevin Judds career is intrinsically linked with Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Established in 2009, Judds label Greywacke (pronounced gray-wacky) is the fulfillment of a long-held dream. Named after New Zealands prolific bedrock, Greywacke was originally adopted by Kevin and his wife Kimberley as the name for their first Marlborough vineyard in Rapaura, whose soils have an abundance of these river stones. Greywacke sources fruit from mature vineyards within Marlboroughs central Wairau Plains and the Southern Valleys. Also an established professional photographer, Judds home in the Omaka Valley overlooking Marlboroughs picturesque vineyards provides inspiration for both his passions.
About Greywacke
Greywacke is the Marlborough label of Kevin Judd, and the fulfilment of a long held dream. The name Greywacke was adopted by Kevin and his wife Kimberley for their first Marlborough vineyard located in Rapaura, named in recognition of the high prevalence of rounded greywacke river stones in the soils of the vineyard. Kevin registered the name back in 1993 with the vague notion that he might one day want to use it on a wine label of his own.
This quality focused winemaking venture sources fruit from mature vineyards within the central Wairau Plains and the Southern Valleys. These prime viticultural sites are cultivated using yield restricting vineyard management techniques and intense canopy management regimes. A number of the vineyards are owned by the Sutherland family, while complementary grape parcels are acquired from additional select sites, all located within these sub-regions.
The wines are made by Kevin at Dog Point Winery in the lower Brancott Valley, a facility extended to him by long-standing friends and industry colleagues, Ivan Sutherland and James Healy.
The Greywacke portfolio is primarily based on two varieties, sauvignon blanc and pinot noir, the sauvignon blanc being produced in two distinctly different styles. In addition to this core range
of three wines, there are also limited edition releases of chardonnay, and three aromatic varieties – pinot gris, riesling and gewurztraminer. Kevin's signature vineyard photographs provide the unmistakable identity of the Greywacke range.
