James Suckling 93
This appellation blend has a combination of four sites and delivers vibrant, crushed-rose perfume and a wealth of red cherries and sliced strawberries. Some tarry, savory notes, too. Very plush, attractively fresh feel to the palate, which has complexity and a wealth of ripe, concentrated fruit. Depth and richness is a hallmark of the vintage. Drink or hold.~JS

When Grant Coulter and Reneé Saint-Amour met over 14 years ago, they agreed on a fundamental idea: they wanted to build a life together that felt like an adventure. They left California for Oregon's Williamette Valley, where Grant first worked as assistant winemaker at Hamacher wines and then spent the bulk of 10 years as assistant winemaker and then winemaker at Beaux Freres.
In 2015, they sold their house in Portland, scraped together every penny they had, and moved to a fixer-upper in the valley so that they could build Hundred Suns. From winemaking, to label design, website building, and even wax dipping bottles by hand, every aspect of this process has their fingerprints on it because it is just the two of them.
In 2018 they bought a 4.5 acre property in the Eola-Amity hills where an old vineyard is now their childrens' backyard. Farming this site will bring them even closer to the wines that they have the pleasure of making and managing together. So far it has been a beautiful adventure indeed, and they are just getting started.
